Unveiling the Journey of Horse Soldier Bourbon: From Battlefields to Bourbon

Horse Soldier Bourbon is more than just a spirit; it’s a tribute to resilience and the American dream. Conceived by U.S. Army Green Berets who rode horseback in Afghanistan, this is a bourbon that encapsulates a story of heroism, transformation, and ingenuity. From the fields of combat to the shelves of fine spirits, Horse Soldier Bourbon is winning hearts and awards across America.

From the Trenches to the Distillery

The story of Horse Soldier Bourbon began in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks when elite operatives found themselves on horseback in Afghanistan, a saga that inspired the film “12 Strong”. Years later, these same veterans swapped their horses for distillery vats, founding Horse Soldier Bourbon in the Tampa Bay area. Today, they’re crafting one of the fastest-growing bourbon brands, expanding into all 50 states and beyond.

A Taste That Speaks to Tradition

  • Produced in small batches, aged for 2-4 years.
  • Non-chill filtered, giving it a robust, full-bodied finish.
  • Awarded Double Gold at the 2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

A Distillery with a Purpose

Horse Soldier is set to open a new distillery in Somerset, Kentucky, in 2026, aligning with America’s 250th birthday. This landmark is not just a production site but a living homage to their past. Scott Neil, president and co-founder, describes their mission as “living the American Dream we’ve been defending.” The distillery will be strategically positioned on the Bourbon Trail, offering visitors a taste of history infused in every sip.

The Symbol of Strength and Memory

Every bottle of Horse Soldier Bourbon is molded from steel recovered from the World Trade Center, intertwining their spirit with the nation’s cherished values of resilience and unity. This unique quality speaks volumes to the bourbon’s commitment to honor and memory, making it not just a drink, but a symbol you can hold in your hand.

Embodying the American Spirit

What started as a post-service dream has evolved into a full-bodied reality. Remarkably, this initiative also gives back to the community; the sale of their Commander Select Bourbon aids charitable organizations like Tunnel to Towers. It’s a venture that embodies the resilience, dedication, and entrepreneurship of its founders — truly capturing the essence of the American spirit in a bottle.
